Bushfire Assessment

Bushfire Assessment

Service Overview

BUSHFIRE ASSESMENT.

If you are building or sub-dividing in a rural area, your property may require an assessment of the Bush fire Attack Level (BAL) as part of Council approval processes.  Councils maintain maps for all local government areas that are declared bush fire prone land and you can search on-line or request a physical map at your local government office.

If your property has been mapped as bush fire prone, your proposed dwelling will need to meet the requirements of Planning for Bush Fire Protection 2006 (NSW) which includes certain measures relating to the style, construction material and sighting of a building in order to maximise protection from bush fires.

How can we help you?

We can help you determine if your property is in a bush fire prone area and complete the Self Assessment Guidelines for your BAL report. In some more fire prone areas, you may need to be referred to a BPAD accredited assessor.

Please note: we only provide Bush Fire reports as a package with at least one other of our services.

The NSW Rural Fire Service also provides comprehensive advice and support tools to assist individuals building in a bush fire prone area. See their website at https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/ for more information.
